Detroit Red Wings (21-21-6) vs. Philadelphia Flyers (15-23-8)
When: Noon Saturday.
Where: Little Caesars Arena in Detroit.
TV: Bally Sports Detroit.
Radio: WXYT-FM (97.1) (Red Wings radio affiliates).
FOUR ON THE FLOOR: Red Wings finally appear to have four lines with identity
TAKE THE Z LINE: Zadina promoted to Red Wings’ top line, but it’s not why you may think
Game notes: In case you needed a reminder of how long Wings coach Jeff Blashill’s tenure — the second longest among active NHL coaches — has been, the Flyers are on their fourth coach in the same span. Mike Yeo, formerly of the Minnesota Wild, took over 23 games into the season, after Alain Vigneault got the Broad Street Bullies off to a 8-10-4 start. Yeo’s mark isn’t much better, however, at 7-13-4, leaving the Flyers in a prime spot in the draft lottery with 36 games left.
The Wings, meanwhile, have their eyes on the other end of the lottery, with hopes of sneaking into the playoffs (if they can get a swoon from the Bruins, who have an edge in games in hand). Detroit has found its offense again of late, with at least four goals scored in three of its past six games, including a 6-3 trouncing of the Flyers on Wednesday night in the first game out of the All-Star break. Leading the attack is captain Dylan Larkin, who has a goal in three of his past four games, and a point in all of those.
After Saturday’s matinee, the Wings head out on a mini-road trip with visits to the Wild and the New York Rangers. Meanwhile, the Flyers will visit the Penguins on Tuesday. The Wings and Flyers will meet again on March 22.
