The Detroit Red Wings announced their schedule for the 2024 preseason on Monday.

Detroit’s exhibition schedule had become somewhat predictable over recent years but this schedule sees some changes.

Per usual, the Wings will play four home games and four road games, including home and away games against their traditional preseason opponents of the Chicago Blackhawks, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Toronto Maple Leafs.

The twist this season is the fourth set of games.  This time around, it takes the form of a home game against the Ottawa Senators and a visit to the Buffalo Sabres.

For the previous two seasons, those games had been matchups with the Washington Capitals.  Prior to that, and ignoring the COVID-disrupted 2021 exhibition schedule, Detroit’s fourth opponent was the New York Islanders in 2019 and the Boston Bruins from 2011 to 2018.

The full exhibition schedule is as follows:

Date Opponent Venue Time
September 25, 2024 Chicago Blackhawks United Center 8:00 PM
September 27, 2024 Chicago Blackhawks Little Caesars Arena 7:00 PM
September 28, 2024 Pittsburgh Penguins Little Caesars Arena 7:00 PM
September 30, 2024 Buffalo Sabres KeyBank Center 7:00 PM
October 1, 2024 Pittsburgh Penguins PPG Paints Arena 7:00 PM

October 4, 2024 Ottawa Senators Little Caesars Arena 7:00 PM
