Was the Red Wings Naming Dylan Larkin Captain the Right Choice?

On January 13th, 2021, Dylan Larkin was named the 37th official captain of the Detroit Red Wings. Larkin, the first captain since Henrik Zetterberg, took the ‘promotion’ with great joy based upon his reponse to the offer.

Larkin, who grew up a Detroit Red Wings fan, and additionally went and played hockey at the University of Michigan, took the role thinking that his childhood dream was coming true. However, has he actually proven that he deserves that role?

The Detroit Red Wings named forward, Dylan Larkin, captain earlier in the season. Although there is no debate that he is a talented player, is he a good enough leader to help the Red Wings turn their misfortunes around?

Since Dylan Larkin has taken over as the Red Wings captain, he’s done a lot of things right. He’s helped be a leader to the young guys, he’s stepped up for his teammates in scuffles and fights, he has produced, and he plays on every Red Wings special team unit. There’s no debate rather or not he’s a talented player. However, given how poorly the team has played recently, is he to be held accountable? I mean, after all he is the captain.
