The NHL Prospects Tournament in Traverse City continued Sunday with the Columbus Blue Jackets dominating the Detroit Red Wings 7-3. Columbus finished the tournament undefeated, finishing with a 3-0 record. The loss drops Detroit to 1-2 in the tournament after a 5-4 win over Dallas Thursday and a 5-2 loss to St. Louis on Saturday.

Scoring Summary
1st Period
Columbus scored an even strength goal at 3:34 of the first period. A turnover in the offensive zone allowed Columbus to score a shorthanded goal before the midway point of the period. Columbus made it 3-0 just over 13 minutes into the game. Chase Pearson scored the loan Red Wings goal with just over four minutes remaining in the period.
2nd Period
Pasquale Zito narrowed the lead to 3-2 with a tip-in on a shot from the point on the power play. Columbus responded at 15:19 with a power play marker to take a 4-2 lead into the intermission.
3rd Period
Columbus scored three unanswered goals in the third period to seal the victory. Mason Ward scored his first goal for Detroit to complete the scoring for the Red Wings.
Star of the Game for Detroit
Chase Pearson played a strong game for Detroit, scoring one goal and playing on both the power play and penalty kill.
Game Notes
Jared McIsaac lost consciousness following a hit into the boards late in the first period. He was taken off the ice and to hospital on a stretcher following the hit. Early reports indicate that he is alert and awaiting observation.
Joe Veleno, Wyatt Newpower and Chase Pearson were the alternate captains for the Red Wings.
The first power play unit consisted of Pearson, Cross Hanas and Kirill Tyutyayev at forward, with and Jared McIsaac and Joe Veleno on defense. Donovan Sebrango replaced McIsaac after his injury.
Sebastian Cossa was Bednar’s backup in the Detroit goal.
Detroit played a man short dressing only 10 forwards and seven defense.
Goaltender Victor Brattstrom did not suit up for Detroit. Other scratches were forwards Jonatan Berggren (injured Saturday), Patrick Curry (injured Saturday), and Lucas Raymond.
