Archibald of Oilers suspended for Game 4 against Jets

Josh Archibald was suspended one game for clipping by the NHL Department of Player Safety and will not play for the Edmonton Oilers in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup First Round against the Winnipeg Jets on Monday (9:45 p.m. ET; NBCSN, CBC, SN, TVAS2).

I’m writing this before Game 4 Monday night, so it remains to be seen if this ends up as a suspension that is technically “for the rest of the playoffs,” but I guess it’s interesting that the Department of Player Safety is just as bad at punishing hits that target the knee as they are with hits that target the head.

This is a hit that I want completely removed from the game. Archibald specifically went for a hit that has the potential to end someone’s career. I want to see this punished more severely to hopefully keep players from trying it in the future.
