Red Wings at Predators – Gameday Updates, Projected Lineups and Keys to the Game

Gameday Updates

So there’s at least one goal against. The Preds also tweeted out that Roman Josi skated with the team today. Josi has been “week-to-week” with an upper-body injury after taking a hit against the Stars that looked like it rung the uppermost part of his body. He’s not back yet it appears, but skating with the team is a positive improvement for him.

Other than that, we’re still going with what we’re guessing based on yesterday’s practice lines being identical to the way they were before Saturday’s loss to Dallas.

Keys to the Game

Win the Special Teams Battle

Detroit has been better at this of late, but scoring the goals when you’re supposed to score and not allowing the goals when they’re supposed to score is a good idea

Breakouts

I’ve liked how patient the defense has been in their own zone in creating breakouts. They’ve generally been smart about when to eat it on the wall, when to handle the puck another half-second, and when to just dump it. Most of the mistakes I’ve noticed on that end have been forwards, but a well-layered breakout is fun to watch. Every once in a while you’ve got to catch a guy cherry picking to keep them honest though.

Score some Goals for your Goalie

Maybe three or more for a change?
